BAND Rehearsal FAQ's
Band rehearsals will be
scheduled once band has been selected.
Band does *NOT* use the same rehearsal schedule as the actors until
tech week.
ACTOR Rehearsal FAQ's
Actors will rehearse 3 days a
week in May and most of June.
Some weeks will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Some weeks will be Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays.
Monday through Friday rehearsals
will always be in the evenings
Saturday rehearsal will always be in the afternoons.
We will add more rehearsal days
as students finish the school year.
We will have a 5-day break for Memorial Weekend and July 3rd & 4th off.
Because of the Memorial Day break, we have one Thursday rehearsal in May,
and one back to back Friday/Saturday rehearsal the first week of June.
At ART, we stick to the schedule. We respect that our teen performers have school obligations, and we will release them from rehearsal ON TIME, and we will not call them if they are not needed at a given rehearsal. We recommend that performers to arrive a few minutes early, so that they are warmed up and ready to go at the start of rehearsals. Performers should come to rehearsals with their script, a pencil, water bottle(s) and a snack, as well as appropriate clothing for blocking and dance rehearsals.
Rehearsals are held in Penasquitos
- at various locations including
Mesa Verde Middle School, Westview High School, Bertrand's Music Store.

Musician audition questions? Call 619-733-2021 or email info@americanrosetheatre.com
Schedule your audition appointment.
Prepare 16 bars (or approximately 1 minute) of a musical theatre up-tempo pop selection, bring sheet music or background CD (no vocals). An accompanist will be provided. No a capella singing. You may bring your background tracks on A CD or an iPOD device.
Your audition song should NOT be from the show, but if you are interested in a particular role, then it would be wise to be familiar with one of that character's songs, as you may be asked to sing further.
After vocal auditions, all actors will be asked to learn a dance audition. We will take small groups of actors aside, teach them a dance, and then they will return to the audition room to perform the dance number. Please bring shoes that you can dance in. You will have time to change shoes following your vocal audition.
Bring a current photo of yourself.
Bring a conflict calendar showing all conflicts between May 3 and July 25, 2010. No conflicts allowed during tech week and no missed performances.
Fill out all FORMS BEFORE arriving. FORMS in PDF FORMAT - use to fill out forms on your computer before printing. ** available soon**
Pay all production fees before you audition. If you are not cast, your check is returned immediately.
If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian MUST accompany you to the audition.
Remember to smile and have fun!
Again - Remember to have fun.
The most important thing to remember is to relax. Everyone you will be singing for is happy to see you, and we want you to do great! We want you to walk out of the audition feeling that you did well and had a lot of fun doing it. And hopefully would do it again!
How many performers will we cast in "13": We will cast at least 26 - 13 principal roles, and 13 ensemble.
Will "13" be double cast? We have not made that decision. It will depend on how many people audition. We typically double cast our leads in youth productions. If we double cast, then each role that is double cast will have 5 shows each.
Actors / Band: please bring your completed forms to auditions.
You WILL NOT be allowed to audition without the paperwork filled
out
and signed by an adult. For parents of minors, for insurance
purposes, you must fill out and sign the RELEASE OF LIABILITY Form before your
child auditions.

It only takes a brief glance at the local and national newspapers to see
that performing arts groups across the country are suffering - some have
even been forced to shut down their operation. Since 1996, our goal at
ART has been to offer quality productions to the community. In order
to keep our costs low, we count on production fees, ticket sales, and
to a smaller extent than many arts groups, donations. You can
help ART be successful by spreading the word - encouraging friends and
family to come see our shows, and buying tickets yourself!
Your tax-deductible donations are cheerfully
accepted.
Any missing paperwork must be turned in by first rehearsal or you may forfeit participation.
